Wound Care RN
Job Summary
Provides assessment and treatment of various types of wounds in accordance with accepted wound care standards, Registered Nurse practice act, and wound center policies and protocols to achieve optimal outcomes for the patient with wounds. Demonstrates knowledge of wound care treatment and development of standards of practice for a wound care population.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
•Graduate an accredited school of nursing
Experience:
•Minimal 3 – 5 years clinical experience
•Previous experience in management of various types of wounds preferred
Licensing, Certifications &/or Registrations:
•Current RN license in the state of Kentucky
•Wound nurse certification, preferred. If not certified, work towards certification shall begin/continue with hire and certification to be obtained within three years of hire.
•Debridement certification, preferred
•Basic Life Support certification (within 3 months of employment)
•ACLS certification (within 6 months of employment)
Equipment/Special Skills:
•Knowledge of current wound healing standards of care
•Ability to organize & effectively utilize time
•Application of specialty wound dressings
•Computer
•MS Excel
•Calculator
•BGCS machine
•Wound camera
•Venous hand held doppler
Working Conditions, Hazards & Physical Effort:
•Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights & sounds
•Long periods of walking, standing, sitting, stooping & bending, are required
•Risks exposure to blood, body fluids & tissue
•Exposure to stressful situations, time restraints & deadlines
•Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds, independently
