IT Generalist - Information Technology
The IT Generalist is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the organization's technology infrastructure. This position installs, configures, and supports computer hardware, software, and network systems while ensuring employees have the tools and resources needed to perform their jobs effectively. The IT Generalist serves as a primary point of contact for technical issues, assists with user training, and supports the ongoing maintenance and improvement of organizational technology systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Provide first-level and second-level technical support for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
•Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
•Create, modify, and manage user accounts, passwords, email access, and security permissions.
•Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely and minimally disruptive manner.
•Support and maintain Microsoft 365 applications and related technologies.
•Assist with network administration, including connectivity, wireless access, and basic infrastructure support.
•Install software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
•Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
•Document support requests, resolutions, and IT processes.
•Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, including user education and security best practices.
•Train end users on software applications, equipment, and organizational technology resources.
•Coordinate with vendors and third-party support providers as needed.
•Assist with technology projects, implementations, and equipment deployments.
•Maintain inventory records of IT hardware, software, and technology assets.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
•Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
•Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, etc.) are a plus.
Experience
•One to three years of experience in technical support, help desk, system administration, or a related IT role preferred.
•Experience supporting Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and basic networking environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
•Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent customer service and communication skills.
•Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
•Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
•Ability to travel between facilities and work locations as needed.
