Nursing
Med/Surg, ICU, Observation, Swing Bed
When a family member is in the hospital, finding medical care you can trust is your top priority. At our facility, we treat every patient like a member of our own family. Whether your loved one requires highly specialized life support or a comfortable place to recover, our dedicated nursing teams provide close, continuous monitoring and round-the-clock attention. We believe healing happens best together, which is why we welcome family members as active partners in the care team whenever possible. Every nurse on our staff works hand-in-hand with our physicians to deliver optimal, compassionate care in the following areas:
• Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Care: In this unit, we care for patients recovering from major surgeries or managing acute illnesses like pneumonia, severe infections, or diabetes complications. This unit also includes observation stays that are designed for patients who are not sick enough for full admission but need short-term testing, evaluation, and monitoring—typically for less than 24 hours—before safely heading home.
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU): This unit provides constant, high-level monitoring and advanced life-support interventions for critically ill patients who require the most intensive medical supervision.
• Swing Bed Care: For patients who no longer need acute hospital care but aren't quite ready to go home. This service "swings" their care focus toward extended rehabilitation, physical therapy, and skilled nursing to help them regain full independence. If you or your loved ones need skilled care to bridge the gap between a hospital stay and returning home, contact Trish Brummett for more information at (270) 866-4141, extension 111.
• Inpatient Hospice Care: For patients facing advanced, life-limiting illnesses, this service focuses entirely on comfort, pain management, and emotional support. We provide a peaceful, dignified environment where families can spend meaningful time together. Contact Hospice of Lake Cumberland at 606-679-4389 for more information on Hospice services.
