Janie Landis Appointed as Chief Financial Officer by Bill Kindred, CEO
Bill Kindred, CEO announced, "It gives me great pleasure to inform you of the appointment of Janie Landis as Chief Financial Officer of Russell County Hospital." Janie has been with the organization for 18 years and has demonstrated her ever increasing knowledge and skills which make her most suited and capable to perform the duties of CFO. "I look forward to working with her in her new role." Derek Jones, Interim CFO will continue in the short term as a financial consultant assisting Janie though a transition period. "Please join me in welcoming our new CFO, Janie Landis."
RCH Welcomes New CEO Bill Kindred
After an arduous process of vettng some 70 applicants by committee, the Russell County Hospital Board interviewed applicant finalists and decided on Bill Kindred of Metcalfe County to be the new hospital CEO, a choice that board chair Mark Antle said was a good combination of expertise and personability.
Kindred replaces George Walz who has been the interim CEO the past couple of months, himself replacing outgoing CEO Robert Ramey.
Chris McQueary Completes 2nd Term on RCH Board of DirectorsCEO, Robert Ramey presented Board Chairman, Chris McQueary with a plaque at the February 21, 2013 meeting in recognition of 8 years of service Chris provided to Russell County Hospital.
Chris stated the eight years had passed quickly and RCH had come a long way in the years he has been here.
KEMI Announces Workplace Safety Award WinnersTen Kentucky organizations have been selected to receive the 2012 KEMI Destiny Award presented by Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance (KEMI). The KEMI Destiny Award is presented annually to policyholders that best exemplify KEMI's motto, "Control your own destiny." It symbolizes what can be accomplished when organizations work together to improve workplace safety.
The following policyholders were selected after meeting a stringent set of criteria set forth by KEMI:

Safety measures which have helped reduce workers' compensation costs for this elite group of policyholders include the establishment of interactive relationships with KEMI's Loss Education Department, the implementation of formal safety programs, onsite training and regular safety meetings, and an ongoing commitment to safety from all levels throughout their organizations.

Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance (KEMI) is the largest provider of workers' compensation insurance in Kentucky, providing coverage to more than 21,500 businesses in all 120 counties of the state.
Russell County Hospital Partners with Central Baptist HospitalCentral Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky., has entered into an agreement to manage Russell County Hospital.
The three-year agreement creates an opportunity to provide greater accessibility to a wider range of health services in Russell County. The management agreement will allow creation of a broader continuum of care, including enhanced alignment of physicians and hospital services.
The county-owned hospital has 25 critical-access beds, approximately 170 employees and 23 practicing physicians.
"Bringing together Russell County Hospital and Central Baptist Hospital provides us with an opportunity to create a comprehensive and high-quality health care system in Russell County that will be of great value to our patients, our employees and our community," said Chris McQueary, Chairman of the Russell County Hospital Board of Directors. "This strategic partnership will allow us to work more closely with a leading health care system to provide high levels of care in the most cost-effective way."
"We are very excited about this agreement with Russell County Hospital and the opportunity it will provide both facilities to further enhance the availability and delivery of health care services to residents of the area," said William G. Sisson, President and CEO of Central Baptist Hospital.
As part of the management agreement, Robert Ramey was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Russell County Hospital, effective immediately. Ramey has served in several capacities during his 17-year tenure at Central Baptist Hospital, most recently as administrator of Baptist- Physicians' Surgery Center.
Board of Directors Move Forward on RCH Expansion ProjectAt Januarys' monthly meeting of the Russell County Hospital Board of Directors, a decision was made to move forward with submitting the necessary paperwork for financing of the original building project to the USDA.
30 Year Service Award RecipientsAt the 2011 Christmas Party and Service Awards Banquet this year there were eleven hospital employees and two physicians recognized for 30 years of service to Russell County Hospital.
Recognized were: Phillip Marcum, Dr. Richard Miles, Winston Roy, Paula Mann, Lori Antle, Cory Stearns, Lannette Harris, Janet Kimbler, Lila McGowan and Carolyn Wade.
Dr. Charles Peck, Bertha Foley and Teresa Murray were not in attendance.
Dr. Vijay Jain, General Surgeon RetiresDr. Vijay Jain announced he will be retiring from active practice effective December 11, 2011.
